Our History

Highland Park Day Care was established in 1983 by Reverend Dr. James J. McCord, and other officials of First Baptist Church of Highland Park, because they felt and realized the need for the children of the church to be educated in a Christian environment.

Ten years after its inception, on August 28, 1993 the pastor, congregation and friends celebrated the completion of the newly built education building. The Highland Park Day Care moved into the education building on Monday, August 30, 1993 with an enrollment of one hundred children. The following year, with God’s continued blessings, the day care added kindergarten classes to its educational program and The Highland Park Day Care was renamed as the Highland Park Christian Academy (HPCA).

In 1997, the Academy added first grade to its program; from 1998 to 2002, God blessed us as we added grades two through six. And in March of 2010, the Academy expanded to Middle School adding grades seven and eight.

Today, the Academy stands proud of its humble beginning and full of hope for its bright future. God has truly smiled upon Highland Park Christian Academy during these years of dedicated service for His children. It is our fervent prayer that we will continue to be obedient and willing educators whose mission is to develop Ambassadors for Christ who are READY, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE. We continue to strive for EXCELLENCE as we continue to promote teaching and learning in a Christian environment today, tomorrow and always. We find encouragement in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
